Just 'cos i've been bitten by this: the [http://www.livejournal.com/doc/server/ljp.csp.xml-rpc.sessiongenerate.html sessiongenerate] method appears to be broken on DW as [http://community.livejournal.com/lj_dev/822731.html it is on LJ] (unless I'm doing something stupid, in which case I apologise). While it will return a string, it doesn't appear possible to use it as a cookie for authentication purposes.
